Form Requirments/FAQ film fund Atka Films Ultra Low Budget Film Fund* Guidelines and FAQ What is the Atka Films Ultra Low Budget Film Fund? Launched in 2016, the fund was created for artist and filmmakers who have passion to created shorts films and feature films with only hat they have in front of them. The support of friends and family and passion to just do something. For artists who focus on story as opposed to scale, for those can shoot fast but hold themselves to a high quality of professionalism, those who seek further education and understanding on how to execute a film in an organizing manner. Irregardless of budget. But who need a few extra dollars to pay for that festival submission or to provide food for volunteering crew and cast, or to get that first IMDB credit, or to get an extra payed day off work to finish shooting, or to provide honorariums to actors and or crew, and those who need and seek advice from experienced producers. For filmmakers who need that support they have not received yet, for people who do not want to be paper pushers but just want to shoot, but be able to have the legal wherewithal to be able to properly distribute their project, and for those that need mentorship and a ease to be able to create and not worry about the producing side, when all they want to do is be an artist and direct. We are looking to provide Artists and filmmaker who, our priorities for funding: Support for ambitious filmmakers, focusing to support filmmakers who are finding and refining their voices; ones that a explore sensitive themes and ideas, or as simple being given the opportunity to make a second film, which many do not do. Stories which address social, political or other cultural themes. that Provide important context or under-represented points of view, or expressions of identity. Projects that are willing to risk in what is shown visually, and projects that might recognized different perspectives. Pre-Production is estimated to begun in 2013/2014, with a estimated release of 2025. PRODUCTION NOTES Grim Reaper: re-write (feature, horror) (????) executive production, production company, distributor A war veteran returns after a long tour and is followed home by Death. PLOT Originally shot in 2000(the first feature for Atka Films), the production was never completed due to the lack of interest from the cast and crew. At that time the director/writer (Attila Kállai-who may or may not be onboard as director or writer for this version) was quite far ahead of his peers; with his ambitions and goals of making a feature horror film-with action, made-to-order props and costumes, and stunts that would make people think twice; this scared greener artists off.A re-write of the script is underway, but as excited as producer Attila is to get back to this project, it won't see the light of day any year soon-unless priority and interest changes. But it is still one of the many films in the first group to be produced. PRODUCTION NOTES Black Vanillas (feature, drama) (????) executive production, production company, distributor TBA PLOT A sequel to the remake feature of a short film "Black Vanilla", originally to be a feature. The original script was a feature, but due to the massive design of the script: many locations, many characters, numerous interwinding stories, many time frames, and realities; the project was too big to take on with such little amount of experience for Attila as a Production Coordinator; so it was dropped and left as a short film-which was not satisfactory. It was always thought that one day it would be re-made, and a sequel(which originally was a four hour long film broken into two) was to be made. "Black Vanillas" is the sequel. PRODUCTION NOTES Black Vanilla (feature, drama) (????) executive production, production company, distributor TBA PLOT A remake of the short film; which was a feature but was never completed and left as a short-due to the sheer mass of the project, and inexperience as a Production Coordinator(Attila Kállai) held the production back, and the lack of support from people whom wanted the production to go on, but left it all on one person's shoulders. PRODUCTION NOTES "Dinner 2" aka "D2" (short, horror) (????) executive production, production company 10 years later survivor Alex is released from a mental institution to what he thinks is a safe place to call home... But he soon realizes that nothing is what he thinks. PLOT A sequel to the short experimental B-horror movie "Dinner". Unlike the first short, this is to be a scary horror film. There are hopes that cast members Sean Yourcheck, Jonathan Hamilton, and Shauna Nickel will come back to reprise their roles. There's also a potential thought of turning this into a trilogy. PRODUCTION NOTES Memory 3 (short, drama) (????) executive production, production company, distributor, casting, crewing, insurance, funding This time we meet Derek in his 30's, but beyond that not much has changed. He's still dealing with family difficulties, and how to solve them. But this time, he's started a family of his own. PLOT The final short film in the "Memory" trilogy. PRODUCTION NOTES Memory 2 (short, drama) (????) executive production, production company, distributor, casting, crewing, insurance, premiere event organizer, funding The story picks up with Derek in his 20's, with his loving and not so loving family. A traumatic event changes his relationship once again with his family, and again he begins to question love, trust, and secrets. PLOT P A sequel to Attila Kállai's film Memory. Recently there was discussion with Liam Waller(Derek) about his potential interest in acting again... There was no clear cut "no" or "yes", but that he'd be interested in doing something like that again. He hasn't yet been told that there are two sequels planned. RODUCTION NOTES Vampire in a Barn (short, horror) (????) executive production, production company, distributor, casting, crewing, insurance, premiere event organizer, funding A psychological B-horror where a vampire may or may not be stalking a group of cross country motley crew travellers.A group of friends' car breaks down while travelling cross country, naturally they seek help from a local farmer, but end up trapped in a barn. PLOT A location to shoot the film is an abandoned dairy farm in Abbotsford, BC. PRODUCTION NOTES Love et Continuité (feature, parody/musical) (????) executive production, production company, distributor A mob henchmen accidently switches a briefcase with a skateboarder and not a contact. PLOT Brian child of Magali Gauthier and Attila Kállai. Ideas for this project came up in 2008 while discussing continuity and how many dramas they shoot...It led to the creation of a romantic musical comedy, where there is no continuity-in fact it's thrown off on purpose. It's a parody musical, with practical jokes on the cast/crew thrown in. Such as, a scene with two actors on a busy street, but neither of the actors have met before-one approaches and starts the scene, and then leaves directly afterwards-lots of experimenting and improvisation. PRODUCTION NOTES Take it Like a Man (series, soap opera) (????) executive production, production company, distributor TBA PLOT A spinoff series from the short film Take it Like a Man.For those familiar with the short; it's going to get even weirder and bigger; with explosions, identical twins, more hybrids, and men in black.Think of this as a supernatural soap opera; with zombies, hybrid humans, ghosts, and plenty of jam! There have been three seasons drafted.Even with popular demand, there is still no concrete time of pre-production, since put on hold in 2010. As Attila and Tina worked together in a theatrical show at the same time and they bonded very well, and that sort of became the relationship they had. And for personal reasons as well for the director. -A "crazy credit" was Windsong Whitehead as "Tripod Wrangler"(the "crazy credit" is not her name!). -Special thanks credit: "The Producers thank the Wells and Barkerville residence for their support and co-operation in creating this production. -The speedometer at the end totals up to the number of people whom died in the accident. -The line "everything will be just fine... as soon as it all gets better" was spoken by Says Wood's character; this was something that her personal friend use to say; whom passed away. -The people being interviewed are not actors, they are locals from the town; whom has all had personal experience of loosing someone in a car crash. Needless to say the director was very nervous when revealing the film to the locals, as a lot of this film was created and inspired because of them. This was gift of understanding from the director Attila to the town- as an outsider. As the production went on, it was discovered that every single person involved in any way with this production has known someone who has died in a car accident. -Another layer and clue in the film; as there are many; is that the first letter of each characters name spells out the ending; and specifically whom has died; and in the order of their appearances: DEAD: David, Emmett, Amy, Debbie. -The estimated budget was $3000. -Shot in Wells, Canada/Barkerville Highway/Barkerville, Canada -Dustin's hand was bandagged because he is a blacksmith's apprentice and recently burned himself; it was not apart of the film in any way. -A slip of the finger happens during David's monologue, and the camera operator lets a finger slip into frame while changing the focus. This was not noticed until after the film had wrapped. -Attila was not happy in any way about how his hair looked in this film. -And inside joke when the sister tell d David to drive himself;(of course when he responds to say he cannot, it's because he is a ghost and cannot touch anything; which doesn't explain why he can sit...) this is an inside joke because actor Attila at the time did not have a drivers' license. -The film length is 20 minutes, not 21 minutes as written on the dvd. After the final cut was made and the dvd cover was designed and printed; for some reason there was another cut made, and the film was cut down another minute to make the new run time from 21 to 20. -Was finished 4 hours before the premiere. -There were technical delays at the premiere and the film started 30 min late because the theatre workers didn't know how to project a films; it had been so long since they did it that they had forgotten. There was no exact labelled organization to the area. -The interview video "Never Over" was supposed to be included as a behind the scene making-with footage yet to be released in 2016. But, the interview itself was just so poignant and captivating and wonderful to watch that it was left just as a stand still, being only Rev. Austin Spry. -The poster that exists along with other promotional material and crediting within the film includes a person(Tracy Froese) that was apart of the lead cast and crew, but is not listed on the companies website. This person was removed from the crediting on the website after she commented "It's not worth having on the resume". The rest of the promotional material has been left as is, as due to the amount of work it would take. REVIEWS/PRESS from the premiere guest book: "so glad to be here for this" -Carrie J.
